ground. i think it is possible. south of baltimore it could develop over the next couple hours. some of it could coat the roads and sidewalks. we have snow chances as we go through the afternoon. temperatures below the freezing mark for everyone. that means really chili out there. 25 frederick. oakland at 19 degrees right now. lower eastern shores above the freezing mark. that's good news there as it melts the roasnow a little bett. there could be icy spots on the road. we are going to have mostly cloudy skies today temperatures in the mid 30s and light snow showers are possible. not looking for a whole lot of accumulation but a light coating is definitely possible. be careful if you are planning to be out and about. if you are planning to get your super bowl food or super bowl destination. the snow early on in the evening

hours accumulation around baltimore as well. skies clear late tonight and we drop back in the teens and 20s for overnight lows. we have a couple storm systems moving we call these clirps. they are quick moving and don't have moisture. they don't bring a lot of snow and cold. that's what we have to keep in mind for the forecast. monday night a chance for snow, tuesday night even into wednesday morning. next couple mornings careful on the roads could be slick spots definitely. look for chances for snow. we warm things up and rain possible on friday. want to get a check of what's happening. it is played in a dome so weather won't be a factor. >> they are bringing baltimore in. diehard fans decided to take the

>> well, we are tracking some light snow building back across the area. we got some last night. accumulating about a coating to an inch in some areas. so there is still some snow on the ground. many of the side streets have icy spots as well. now here come the snow showers. these look pretty dramatic on the radar. usually the radar embellishes things. most of this isn't reaching the ground. what i think is reaching the ground are the darker shades of purple there. those will start to accumulate in northern virginia it will slide into dc and northern parts of maryland.

there are flurries starting to build already and through out the day some areas could see a coating of snow. temperatures are on the chilly side. we are below the freezing mark in many spots. 27 degrees at the airport 30 downtown haguerstown 25. they are building back into the 30s at this point. we are expecting the roads to be a little icy this morning as we stay above the freezing mark through out the morning hours. the mid to upper 30s mostly cloudy skies and light snow showers starting to develop. best chances for accumulation come through the afternoon and evening hours in baltimore. it is very minimal amount. enough to coat the roads in some spots. not too much trouble. be careful. it will be a busy day people going to lagrocery last minute r food items and super bowl parties. a few more clippers move this way. that shows us our 7-day forecast as we not only have a chance for snow later today but monday

sauce. get those cooking down a little bit. when you know they are coming do you have them ready? >> we do. we always have them ready. >> ray rice really likes these? >> uh-huh. we are adding beef tenteder loin chopp -- beef tenderloin choppe up real fine. this is not just for tv. we always use beef tenderloin. we are going to cook these down. obviously we don't have time to do the whole thing. normally we cook it cool it down and then we add white american cheese to it. >> this is so unusual. i should know about this, right? >> you should. >> we are going to take this mixture. after it cools down we are going to add cheese. take little egg yolks. >> as a little paste. >> you are rolling it up. >> you are making this look easy. >> it is easy. could easily be done at home.

>> welcome back to 11 news. we're taking a live look at the beltway now. and we are expecting a little bit of slippery spots out there. you can see the main roads are dry or at least wet. they're not too icy but snow just on the side. so this is what you're going to have to encounter this morning. snow last night, the roads may be a little covered at times. most of the main roads have been treated at this point. tracking more live snow. you can see the snow showers across the northern part of virginia building back towards hagerstown as well and to the west of garrett county. so snow still in the forecast. going to be very light in nature but still some slippery spots on the roads. seeing light snow showers build up. temperatures now below the freezing mark a lot of 20s out there, 27 at the airport.

that mumingsf means still below the freezing mark. we are expecting to warm into the mid to upper 30s. moisk skies today. -- mostly cloudy skies today. some areas could see minor accumulations enough to make thing as little slippery out there. so if you're traveling to and from any destination to watch the super bowl just be very careful out there in case you encounter a little bit of ice. temperatures should drop into the 20s and upper teens as the skies clear out late tonight. but we have a couple more storm systems on the way. clippers out of canada usually fast moving so they don't have a lot of time to accumulate much snow and usually starved of moisture so quick moving storm system and you can see we have a couple more moving this way. that shows up in the seven day forecast not only with the snow chance but again monday night, tuesday night into wednesday morning. so all in all each and every morning could have some icy weather to deal with. plan accordingly.

>> one night removed from the death of his 19-year-old brother playing the game of his life to honor that brother. >> the image perfectly captured a moment of grief and triumph. tory smith on the day his brother was killed in a motorcycle crash embracing ray lewis knocking off the patriots in week three. on no sleep smith took the field and offered arguably the best game, a tribute to his brother to honor his memory. what amazed me was figuring out from where he drew the strength for that day and the rest of the season. meanwhile he can't believe that i can't believe. >> this is life. i don't really get caught up in emotional roller coasters. i try to stay steady and part of that is doing consistent in what you do. >> joe fell in my camp, amazed as well. >> i couldn't imagine going what he went through and handling it as well as he did.

even with all the people that we have around us. we do have a great organization and i'm sure when he needed somebody to lean on somebody with youhere. >> one in particular helped best bear the burden. >> williams is like a brother. we played in college together. >> we've been knowing each other since maryland and we're close and we have that relationship. we have each other's back. going through a lot of the situation together so we understand each other and we just hold each other. >> tory continues to play in honor of his brother and he honors well. >> the relationships in that locker room are really what have helped forge this team to be able to deal with things like that. we've seen it consistently. saw a couple of years ago when reed lost his brother and one of the reasons why this team is here in the super bowl. >> and, tory smith certainly deserving and she thanked the organizations and the fans for

>> good morning. we're giving you a live look right now at route 40. you can see snow on the side of the road but the main roadway is mainly wet. that is good news for super bowlers out and about trying to get to their destinations. 31 degrees downtown and 27 currently at the airport. we've seen a couple reports of light snow showers already

across the baltimore metro area and that's in the forecast today. a couple flurries possible maybe even light accumulations. highs from 34 to 38 degrees. but you still have to watch out for icy spots on the roads at least right now while the temperatures are below freezing. as far as the snow goes best chance is mainly in the afternoon and evening but minimal just enough to slicken up the roads, not too much problems. so thankfully the road crews have been very good about getting the salt down so things looking good there. expecting the low temperatures into the 20s and upper teens. so just be careful if you have plans to and from your super bowl watching parties. you'll have to watch out for snow in a few spots. coming down from canada quick moving don't have a lot of moisture so not going to bring a whole lot of snow. just enough to cause a few procks out there.

we know how the roads slicken up. so first let's get a check of what's happening down in new orleans. absolutely spectacular there. today a lot of sunshine and temperatures warming up into the 60s. our crew down there i hope they're enjoying this because when they come back they'll be dealing with chilly weather. we have a chance for snow not only later today, monday and even tuesday night but these are very small quick-moving storm systems. just enough to slicken up the road. temperatures only in the 30s. 40 degrees by wednesday. sunshine on thursday. we warm up to 47 by friday. but we do have a chance for rain. that's the latest on the forecast. now we want to check in live with kim in perry hall with a small army of ravens faithful. >> the fans just keep growing. the crowd is growing and people are getting excited for the game. we have some of the biggest

you have been serving up purple drink. >> they've been quite the hit. we came up with a cocktail called the ravens roy al. eeths been hugely popular. we've been serving it which basically is a spin off of a classic bes knees. we made it more approachable. >> baltimore is the bee's knees. >> absolutely. >> is that the one? >> ok. >> let's get started. what's the first thing we need to do? >> the first thing if you're going to make this at home you want to have lemon juice, honey that you're going to dilute prior to making the cocktail just have all your ingredients ready. we're also serving these all day long happy hour. so you can feel to come down and drink with me. i'll be there working and happy to serve you. >> what time do you open? >> we're actually open now we're doing a brunch. >> so people might be showing up already. >> i'm sure they are.

>> let's get this drink started. >> basically vodka our base spirit. so you use an ounce and a half for each drink. and if you're going to batch this just up your proportions. any type of vodka whatever your preference. that makes it more special when you have the shaker. >> get everything in it. >> do you have purple dye? >> at the bar we're infusing our honey with the the dye. you can do different variations. so the honey is purple. we did it different today just because we're on camera and it change it is quality a little bit. and we want it to be very vibrant. so a touch different. but this is going to come out with vibrant purple. ravens purple. >> so put the vodka and this is the lemon and lime? >> just lemon. >> and her honey. you put water with it? >> we dilute it. honey is very thick. so boil water and boil that

down and have that prepared. it makes it a lot thinner to use as opposed to thick honey. so you can shake it up. again this is basically a traditional bee's knees but we switched it to be a vodka-based drink. nobody really has an issue with vodka. we double strain our drink to protect it from getting extra ice and things even though we don't have the ice chips but we are using crushed ice because it's fun. it gives you a feel like an adult snowball. >> love it. so what did you top that off with? >> with sparkling wine. so kithes it's -- you can make this at home. >> love it. thank you. they're going to be serving up these purple drink all day long. >> more coverage coming up. we'll be right back.

we're now some 9 hours away from kickoff where the ravens will battle the niners. we have live team super coverage. we begin with pete and mindy live in the big easy. what's the atmosphere like right now? >> it's getting more and more crowded and i bet you deb went to the airport to try to catch a plane. i know where she is. >> i think she's jealous. yes indeed, the atmosphere is starting to grow and build and excitement still early the pace of people coming up is still one of a lingering thing taking it all and looking to see the super dome which is a magnificent structure. >> it's beautiful. >> a lot of folks have just arrived. there were a lot of people here last night. but some folks coming in either driving in or they got an early plane. so they're starting to filter in. want to check the lay of the land and check out the super dome.

they are almost all ravens fans. we've seen two niners fans maybe? >> maybe three. >> now of course mindy's favorite player is ray rice because they're about the same height. and ray signs a $40 million contract in the off season and had a very good year but almost at this point with the ravens offense because of the emergence of flacko and bold and, tory smith he feels a little forgotten. but that's just fine with him. >> the ravens high-flying offense has joe flacko on the cover of sports illustrated twice. eight touchdown passes in three games as the ravens has taken the focus away from little ray. don't get me wrong. ray rice has 131 yards touchdown and scored against new england too. but rice hasn't dazzled with highlights. mostly offering ground-pounding yards. does that sit well with someone who has very much enjoyed his rise? >> i don't have to be the center of attention. i know i'm a play maker on this

team. when it comes i just have to make the play. my number is going to be called fairly often but there's other guise out there that can do it as well. >> there's no personalities on this team. everybody pretty much plays for each other. we all know our capabilities and we play to ply to the full extent. that's how we approach is to play for each other. >> to further prue that look at bernard pierce. the second part has done dazzling but not only has ray rice failed to begrudge. he embraced him. >> he saw me struggling and took me in and showing me the plays and kind of get me to perfect. and we developed that bond and friendship to be able to push each other throughout each and every week. >> of course as the 49ers choose to try to stop t joe flacko that creates the recipe for ray rice to run loose again. >> and arguably the lynch pin

with a live look from the maryland zoo. i know you can see a polar bear creeping into the bottom of your screen. i love sneaking up on the polar bears from this camera. they've got some light snow there. many of you may have gotten some light snow last night. fortunately the roads are ok but more snow in the forecast. they like this kind of weather. we've seen a lot of clouds and see these snow showers starting to develop? more on the way through west virginia. this is what we're going to have to deal with this afternoon. very light in nature but enough to cause some slick spots on the roads. temperatures are trying to warm above the freezing mark. we can see that as we're mainly climbing into the upper 20s and low 30s. 29 degrees at the airport. 33 in baltimore. frederick 28. hagerstown 25 degrees. the spots still below the freezing mark. i would worry about the icy patches because of the ice we saw last night. other than that we're expecting moisk mostly cloudy skies.

as far as accumulation goes the best chance for baltimore will be through the afternoon and evening hours. and some areas could see a light coating. temperatures in the mid to upper 30s. >> snow showers should taper down but still slick spots on the road as you travel back from your watching destinations. so please be very careful. a lot of people on the road through the night. just be cautious of any icy spots because of the snow from last night also what we're going to see into the afternoon as well. temperatures tonight drop into the 20s and upper teens. we just have a train of storms coming out of canada through the next couple of days. another one on the way. just be cautious all the way through the early part of the workweek each and every morning there is the chance of snow. lethsd get a check down in new orleans. starting the day in the 50s. lots of sunshine and high temperatures should be in the 60s by the afternoon. so our team covering the super
